Welcome to The Community College, Chulmleigh

This is a double welcome - to this website and to the College. You will find here all the statutory information to which you are entitled and a good deal more which should help you to make an informed choice about the best school for your child. Choosing the right secondary school for your child can appear to be a daunting task. We hope you will find the information in this prospectus helpful in that regard.

The Community College, Chulmleigh, has a reputation for its standards of care and academic achievement. Children are happy, work hard and succeed in most of their endeavors. We are, however, not complacent. Our motto "Nihil Quam Optime" ("Nothing But The Best") provides a challenge towards which we must always strive. We aim to ensure that our students leave us at 16 to go to Further Education as well rounded individuals who are critical thinkers and thereby able to make informed decisions.

Experienced and well qualified teachers; good and improving facilities and a supportive community, including parents and governors, are vital factors to the quality of education we offer to your son or daughter. We are confident that the College offers a wide range of educational opportunities, underpinned by a vigorous sense of purpose, clear values and a caring ethos.

The best way to judge a school, however, is not through its brochure but by talking to parents of existing or immediate past students and seeing it in action. You are welcome to visit us at any time; no appointment is necessary. You will be able to go anywhere in the College, talk to anyone you want and find out anything you wish to know.

I look forward to meeting you,

Barrie Cooper

Principal

On behalf of the Governors may I welcome your interest in the Community College. We are keen to see that students are offered a good education to equip them with the skills they will need on leaving Chulmleigh. The Governors are initiating schemes whereby parents are encouraged to take a more active interest in the College and all of the facilities we provide.

It is important for the Governors to see that the education policy of the Government is implemented. However, we like to think that we take an active interest in the work of the staff, and in the whole College ethos. Our aim at all times is to improve the facilities at Chulmleigh and encourage pupils and parents to use them to the full. The Governing Body welcomes discussion with anyone associated with the College or surrounding in order that the educational facilities on offer can be improved. We expect parents to feel free to discuss with Governors any problems they may have. Equally, we are delighted to receive encouragement and appreciation for the work we do.

We hope this is the beginning of a happy relationship between your family and the College and that when your child leaves Chulmleigh, you are that this has been a successful partnership.
